Our Method · Light

Light either calms a nervous system, or winds it up.

Overhead fluorescent glare is one of the most common complaints in schools. It is also one of the easiest things to get right.

Light is not neutral. Harsh, flickering, top-down light keeps a stressed nervous system on alert; soft, warm, adjustable light lets it settle. Most classrooms only offer the first kind.

In a ForeverMe space the person sets their own light — level, warmth, and colour. That choice is not a convenience. Deciding "I need it dimmer" is the first small act of self-regulation, and it is where self-awareness starts.

What the space does

  • Soft, face-height light instead of overhead glare.
  • Adjustable brightness from near-dark to full working light.
  • Colour the person can tune to the state they're aiming for.
  • Slow, predictable change — never strobing or fast cycling.
The first small choice — "dimmer, please" — is where regulation begins.
